Pedal Power Training

Part of the Hampshire Schools Cycling Partnership

Bikeability

Bikeability is "cycling proficiency" for the 21st century, designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’'s roads. Bikeability in Hampshire is delivered by a partnership, in which Pedal Power Training plays a major role. The partnership is:

The Mountbatten School, British Cycling and Pedal Power Training make up the Hampshire Schools Cycling Partnership

There are three Bikeability levels. A child will typically start Bikeability lessons once they have learnt to ride a bike, with 10–11 year olds progressing through to Level 2, and then Level 3 at secondary school (11–18 year olds).

Certificates and shiny luminous badges for each level are awarded to children who successfully complete each course and children are encouraged and inspired to achieve all three levels, recognising that there is always more to learn and to enjoy on a bike.

Pedal Power instructors were some of the first in the country to deliver the Bikeability syllabus. We now have a proven track record in delivering Bikeability courses to schools and voluntary groups. By June 2011 we successfully trained over 2,500 children in South Hampshire, and in May 2012 we joined forces with The Mountbatten School in Romsey and British Cycling, forming the "Hampshire Schools Cycling Partnership" which aims to deliver over 12,000 Bikeability places to children right across Hampshire.

Unlike most other providers, we are able to offer children the use of a bike and helmet for the duration of the course, allowing us to reach and include more children.

Our Admin department will tailor make "Parent Information Letters", consent forms, and Q&A guides specifically to your school or group. Once the forms are returned, we then come into school prior to the course starting to put the children into groups. Teachers and Admin staff are kept fully informed on session times, and who is needed when.

No other company spends as much time as we do ensuring your course runs as smoothly as possible. Building a strong partnership with schools has allowed us to grow year on year.
